“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

Waiting is not wasted time; God can renew you in the quiet.

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

Christ gives you endurance for the circumstance in front of you.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

When trouble feels close, God is closer still.

“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped.”

Trust can become a shield when you feel exposed.

“The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.”

Strength and peace can arrive together.

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee.”

God’s presence is the answer to fear’s loudest question.

“Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee.”

Courage grows from knowing you are accompanied.

“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed.”

Take the next faithful step, even with questions.

“The joy of the LORD is your strength.”

Joy here is a deep well, not a demand to feel cheerful.

“The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength.”

Picture God as solid ground when everything shifts.

“The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”

Brokenhearted people are not far from God’s attention.

“Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee.”

You can hand over one burden at a time.

“When my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”

Ask to be led above the panic, not shamed for feeling it.

“My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart.”

God can hold you when your inner resources run out.

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”

Rest under God’s care before trying to solve everything.

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD.”

Look up for help that does not depend on your own reserves.

“In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.”

God’s answer can be strength within, even before circumstances change.

“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.”

God tends to invisible wounds with patience and care.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him.”

You do not need the whole map to take the next step.

“The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.”

Prayer can be a place of immediate refuge.

“When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee.”

The promise is presence through the waters, not denial of them.

“Even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you.”

You are carried through every season of life.

“Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved.”

A direct prayer can hold both need and trust.

“For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD.”

Restoration is part of God’s compassionate character.

“It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed... They are new every morning.”

Each morning brings fresh mercy, not a repeat of yesterday’s failure.

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Jesus welcomes the exhausted without requiring a polished story.

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth.”

Receive a peace that is not controlled by changing news.

“The Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for.”

Even wordless prayer is understood.

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God.”

God can weave meaning without calling the pain good.

“The God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing.”

Hope is something God fills, not something you manufacture.

“Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.”

Stay awake to what is true and let faith steady your posture.

“We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; perplexed, but not in despair.”

Hard-pressed is not the same as abandoned.

“My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.”

Weakness can become the place grace is most visible.

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.”

Borrow strength from God rather than performance.

“He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

Your unfinished work is still held by God.

“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

Care is meant to be cast, not quietly collected.

“The God of all grace... make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.”

Grace can settle what fear keeps shaking.

“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy.”

You can approach God honestly and expect mercy.

“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for he is faithful.”

Hold on because God’s faithfulness holds first.

“God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death.”

The Bible ends with a promise that suffering will not have the final word.

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me.”

The valley is a passage, and you are not walking it alone.

“Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.”

Hope can strengthen the heart while you wait.

“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? hope thou in God.”

Speak gently to your discouraged soul and turn it toward hope.

“My soul melteth for heaviness: strengthen thou me according unto thy word.”

God’s word can meet you when heaviness makes you feel undone.

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee.”

Peace grows as your attention returns to God.

“When I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.”

A fall is not the end of your story.

“The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet.”

God can give sure footing on difficult ground.

“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.”

Gather grace for today instead of borrowing tomorrow’s fear.

“God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Fear does not get to define the spirit God gives you.

“Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory.”

You are held by a God who is able to keep you.
